Peaceful Tuesday~

I have tried to upload a photo, but Blogger isn't cooperating this morning! Its been quite busy here at Providence Gate. Sunday my DH and his brother cut back some trees in the backyard...I couldn't believe that they chose to do this on Saturday and then again on Sunday while the temperatures were soaring and breaking records. It did reach 114 on Saturday and that's when the thunderstorm rolled through! It was just glorious!!
Today i'm taking our youngest DS to the college where he will be going in a few weeks, for a meeting today. So I will bring along my "Household Notebook" and work on it some...editing it. I will take a photo of it and explain how I use mine, for some of you expressed interest in having one too.
Its a crockpot kind of day..Pepper Steak
Brown Rice
Green tossed Salad
and Watermelon
are on the menu for dinner tonight. Its rather easy and doesn't heat up the kitchen...That's the part that I enjoy so much!
I worked in my master bedroom for a little while yesterday....stripped the sheets and remade the bed....washed everything, including the mattress cover, aired out the feather bed, and the pillows outside most of the day. I purchased some new sheets (400 thread count) at a local store that had them on sale, in choosing the white, for it can be bleached as needed. Sprayed the lavender linen spray upon the mattress, and begun adding the sheets along with the linen spray, finally adding the finishing touch of the quilt, throw pillows and gave one final spritz!! Smells just lovely. I purchased the Linen spray at a housewares store, but I have made my own to in the past and its quite easy. So needless to say, I slept great, with the gentle smell of lavender wafting throughout the air.
While we are in the midst of a scorching summer...I have been looking to the Autumn season with such longing. I know that others are doing this too....longer evenings, crisp cool nights, warm days, picking apples, and harvesting pumpkins! Ohh it can't come soon enough. Have lots of ideas for decorating our homes for the Autumn season, little changes to make here and there...and the best part ..it is cost effective!! I have already starting writing down ideas as the inspiration hits me....I have a journal that I keep especially for my blog, and when I feel that urge, I begin to write it down! The Lord has shown me many things over the years and to truly make my house a home..no matter where we live...its with Him that our house becomes a home! The peace and calming presence in my home is Him. Its a peaceful habitation and a quiet resting place from the grind of this world and life itself.....seek peace and pursue it.
"And the work of righteousness shall be peace; and the effect of righteousness quietness and assurance forever. And my people shall dwell in a peaceable habitation , and in sure dwellings, and in quiet resting places." ~Isaiah 32:17-18~

Oh, Mindy, Autumn has always been my favorite season. Days like we've been having here in the wild, wild west don't help my yearning for fall!! I loved your post!

Your bed sounds so cozy and inviting, a "retreat", which is what you need with all the miserable heat you are having. I love the lavender linen spray! There is nothing like going to bed with the scent of lavender, it is so relaxing.

You mentioned making your own linen spray...do you have a recipe for it somewhere on your blog...I would be interested in that. Did the thunderstorm cool things off any?

I was completely able to take a deep breath and relax while reading your post today.
I, too was not able to post a pic.
I have been away from my desk for days and wanted so badly to blog about the events of the past week in my corner of the world.
I am flattered to see my post on your favorites!!!
Thanks.

I love spraying down my bedding too. I make my own spray for doing just that. It just is so nice to lay down in a bed at night that smells fresh!
