Saturday in the garden...

This day was spent mostly in my yard. I made a place for myself and I've called it the secret garden. I was outside for about 4 hours, just weeding and moving pots around. It was quite therapeutic to get out in the sun and warm breeze. It was 78 degrees here today...amazing in the middle of winter!!! We haven't had much rain at all and we so need it. After my playing in the dirt, I sat down and looked at my accomplishments, I was quite satisfied! My hubby came home from work today (overtime) and joined me. He said it was peaceful. It is a peaceful little corner of the yard which is near the gazebo he built about 3 years ago. It has climbing roses inside and outside of it, so beautiful when they are all in bloom. We talked and just enjoyed each others' company. Our son and DIL were married in our backyard and took their vows under the gazebo, it was beautiful!! This has alot of memories already and we have only been in this house for 3 years. This is our first home!!! We have lived in many places courtesy of the US Marine Corps and moved over 12 times in the 20 years he was active duty. It was a wonderful experience for me and I did enjoy it for the most part. I always dreamed of having my own home. I would look at books and magazines and dream...alot!! Cut pictures out from magazines of garden plans, kitchen ideas and general decorating, put them in a file for my dream home. I still have that file and have purged it, due to growth and change of taste! I love to create, whether its writing, floral design, gardening, decorating...its in me, can't get away from it. Looking in my yard wanting to start to scatter seeds, plan and create now for spring! I feel I must still wait just a little longer as nature has a way of surprising us at times and this unseasonable weather may change. I can still create until then, seeds of creativity scattered all around my home, different colored towels rolled up in a basket in the bath, a Valentine wreath with some silk or better yet real roses stuck here and there, or some different potpourri in a pretty bowl. I know its only February, but, I am so looking forward to spring and the seeds that are scattered about finally bust through the earth in celebration of the new season. The Lord has alot to say about new beginnings and new seasons in life, in Ephesians 4:24 Paul says to put on the "New Man", which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness" and in the book of Isaiah, God is telling the people through his prophet, "Behold, I will do a new thing; now it will spring forth; shall ye not know it? I will even make a way in the wilderness, and rivers in the desert." Its time for a new thing, I am ready for it!!!

I love the new thing God did for me when he washed my sins away with his precious blood and saved my soul. That sprang to my mind when I read that wonderful verse you quoted. Your Secret Garden sounds like a sheer delight! I'm glad for you that you have such a creative 'bent'...the world is a better place for it...smile.
