Home Sweet Home.....

I love all things vintage,as i'm sure you have seen by the vintage postcards! They all tell a story. I am very fortunate to have acquired things of both my grandmothers and my mothers' also. These little mementos are so very precious to me, the story that goes along with each item or the memory of its use. I have a very old hankie that I dearly love, its colors still are so very pretty even though its faded over time. My grandmother Mema collected teacups, and I have 2 of hers sitting prettily in my china cabinet. An old shot glass of my grandfathers I use for a little vase for some roses when they are blooming. I try to use all these little treasures in new ways. Using Memas' old recipe box to house my teabags and loose tea. These are just a few ways to use the old things in a fresh new way. I'm always looking to change things, for I believe that change is a good thing! I decorate using old books at times, I have found quite a few for a song at yard sales and antique shops. I stack them up and place a candle or vase with flowers on them, until its time to change again. The cycle of change continues. I have changed...I have grown..thank goodness... I am true to my writings, I am here who I am at home, no different. I want a peaceful, tranquil place for my family and I to rest from the hectic pace of life. Home is the place where this happens, I seek peace and pursue it. I may miss at times but I do try. I think all of us are wanting the same thing for our own families'...a peaceful hearth and home, a place to come and get rejuvenated from the days' happenings.

"I love people, I love my family, and my children. But inside myself is a place where I live all alone and that's where you renew your springs that never dry up." Pearl S. Buck

Lovely post! Thank you for coming by (4:53 am) and leaving the sweet story of the heart shaped holder.
It is so nice to meet you. I will be back again.
Happy week's end.

So true! Home should be a place that welcomes the family home and wraps each in comfort and love away from the outside world. Sounds like your home is filled with love and comfort.

Mindy, your post reminds me of the wonderful book 'Anne's House of Dreams' by L.M. Montgomery. It's a treasure of a book, an old-fashioned ~~must~~ read.
