Its begining to look alot like Christmas~

Greetings to you!! Hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving! We had a very memorable one, lots of family fun, lots of food and plenty of memories made and shared. After dinner we sat at the table and everyone said what they we thankful for...some got emotional (me) but it was such a blessing to have us all together and sharing this way! Sunday we had another turkey dinner here at our home with the kids! Hubby deep-fried the turkey and it was delicious. My daughter and son helped with the preparation of the side dishes, it was a group effort and while the turkey was frying away, hubby was raking leaves and tidying the backyard and patio. We ate and then watched "Elf"!! It was a very relaxing day. We had rain yesterday!! Praise the Lord! Today its a glorious day outside, cold and breezy...high of 58...and tonight we are supposed to have a hard freeze! Last night we had a fire in the fireplace, our first of the season, it was lovely as well as relaxing! I went out the day after Thanksgiving (in the afternoon) with my sister and bought 1 gift so far! The store wasn't crowded at all, and wasn't too picked over! I will be bringing in the decoration throughout this week, a little at a time, so I won't have boxes all over, and its not so overwhelming. We have plans to go out and purchase our tree Saturday, and then decorate it Sunday! Today I will be doing up some laundry, working in my holiday binder some, making spaghetti sauce in the crock pot for dinner, prayer at church (noon) going to the market for a few items, and working out late afternoon, and doing my Flylady mission for the day! This time of year we get so busy with appointments, gatherings, events, etc..that we sometimes forget about ourselves. A gentle reminder to take time for you...set aside a few moments during the day to do something that nurtures you as a woman: reading, writing, praying, light a candle, make a hot cup of tea or coffee. Wishing you a peaceful day in all you put your hand to!

Mindy, a beautiful and calming post...I appreciate you! Life puts so many pressures on us from all angles sometimes. Its good to read and reflect on the life of quiet faith our Heavenly Father desires for us, isn't it! Wishing you a season of blessings...

Mindy, I am so happy you had a lovely Thanksgiving. I think you have the right idea about doing the decorations a little at a time because it really can become overwhelming and then all the enjoyment is taken out of it. I also loved the reminder to take care of ourselves, something I'm sure we all need to remember to do, especially during this time of year. Have a blessed day.

Mindy, thank you for a wonderful post!
I had forgotten that you are in California too!
We also got rain Monday and lots of wind and it was very chilly this morning!
I am working on my Christmas decorations a little at a time this week!
Have a blessed day!

Your blog looks wonderful! I'm glad you had a lovely Thanksgiving. We are expecting a cool front tomorrow night. A fire sounds so nice. Thank you for the reminder to take some time for ourselves.

Looks great in here! I do enjoy your pictures---always old-fashioned and sweet.

And your day, yesterday, sounded so restful. Hope today is more of the same. We're supposed to get some of that cold air here tomorrow, but today we're supposed to enjoy 70 degrees. While I'm looking forward to getting into the Christmas spirit, the colder temps. do help, don't they? It's hard to feel festive with the windows open. Has to be COLD!!!

Mindy, thanks for putting things into perspective for me. I dislike this time of year sometimes because it gets too overwhelming and too much pressure comes at me. Now also with losing our cat and not being able to find her is not helping either. Thanks for a great relaxing post. Sandy

Have fun decorating the tree and remember to put the Christmas music on while decorating. When I did the tree a few days ago I keep thinking something is missing..........it was the Christmas music and it helps to put you in the holiday mood and I ended up daancing around.....hee hee......

Mindy,
Sounds like you had a beautiful holiday! So true about getting busy with everything but ourselves. Reading, a hot cup of coffee, some extra time with the Lord,...all make for a nicer, calmer, "me"!
