A Birthday Tribute to Dad~

Today would have been my Father's 85th Birthday. Dad passed away almost 8 years ago and I miss him so much. I miss our talks about the Lord especially. I grieved for quite sometime after he passed away. At the time we were living on the base at Camp Pendleton where my husband was stationed...I would drive to the beach and sit there looking over the cliffs and missing my father so much my heart ached. But over time...the ache has lessened... for I know that I will see my father again when I leave this earth to be with the Lord....my Father was a Christian as is my entire family and this gives me great comfort. My Mother and youngest sister are driving up to our home so we can go out to lunch and perhaps go to the cemetery also. We come together and remember Dad not only today but everyday cause His memory lives on in us...his children and his bride, and our Mother!
The first picture was taken for the church directory, the second picture is my Mom, Dad, and our son Ryan on his graduation day from Junior High School in our front yard on base. The final picture is at my little sister's house when she lived up north in Hollister. I miss my Dad, but i'm certain I shall see him again...Happy Birthday Dad!

What sweet thoughts...It is so soothing thinking of sitting by the beach...death is part of life and we do have a hope the world does not have.

How precious the truth that we will see our loved ones again!! My Mother passed away 1 year ago yesterday...I too miss her but I'm glad she is set free from her wheelchair and all that went with it. Hope you have a pleasant week-end...resting and worshipping.

i miss my dad too ... he died 5 years ago this coming October ... hard to believe how quickly time passes ...

sadly, i don't know how his relationship with the Lord was ... he was a hard drinking and hard living man ... mom and him divorced when i was 10 ...

so glad to hear your dad loved the Lord and you guys could chat about spiritual things ... that in itself is a wonderful blessing ...

Mindy, what a lovely tribute to your dad. I'm so happy that your family members are Christians....while that doesn't lessen the pain when we lose them here on earth, it does give us a comforting hope of seeing them again!
