Ivy and Grapes....

A few pictures of the trailing ivy on the patio, and these beautiful grapes in our yard!! The hanging planter that the ivy is in, I purchased at a yard sale for 15.00..it is forged wrought iron and so heavy! The grapes were planted by the previous owners, ever year since we've been here, the crop has been a fairly good one, and some mighty tasty morsels to boot! I love the way they hang, so graceful...the grapevine will be cut back this Fall, and I have always wanted to make my own grapevine wreaths and garlands...this may be the year to do this! I would love to take a grapevine garland and intertwine it in my Christmas tree this year! When I was doing displays years ago...that what we did, decorated for Christmas on a military base!!! Oh what fun that was! I learned so much and came away with so many trade secrets too....so now I know how to make my own garlands. I watched my grandson today...HE IS WALKING!!!!! Such a funny little guy...I love to watch him play...figuring things out...its amazing to me. Will watch him tomorrow too....and then....time to get ready for a little vacation i'm taking with my Mother, sister, brother, niece and nephew. Hubby says go...you need to get away, and I couldn't agree more! Tomorrow I will post some photos of the destination spot....been there before and its so peaceful and serene. The kids started their first day of school...I have 2 in college at the same time!! YIKES!! God is so good, providing every step of the way! Needless to say, they are both sleeping now, and Hubby just went upstairs to take his rest too. I'm here with lots of Autumny (is that a word?) ideas mulling around in my mind.....I know i'm not the only one thinking this way....almost time.....but until then, I will enjoy this last bit of summer and everything that the days bring my way! Blessings to you...goodnight...

Your ivy is beautiful and the grapes are so pretty. I'm partial to green/purple together anyway.

How 'bout that with your grandson walking. They grow way too quickly, but each stage seems to be cuter than the one before. Least he's still cuddly!

Have a wonderful day. You inspire me with your quiet thoughts and putterings!

I have always wanted to grow grapes in our yard..
We live in grape country and it won't be long until the fragrance of grapes will fill the air...

The vines are just lovely! I am a lover of grapevine garlands just about everywhere. I use them in the fall and December around my front door (fall has a few silk leaves woven in...December gets real magnolia and greenery along with some Crepe Myrtle seed pods for texture with tiny white lights). I am getting the bug to do some fall decorating but know it isn't quite time! Have a wonder filled day.

We're surrounded by vineyards here (lots of HUGE wineries own and/or lease a lot of land in our area). It's so lovely to see them growing on a small scale in your yard. They are quite lovely there!!

The grapes bring back memories of the grapevine we had outside our backdoor when I was growing up. Once I made a 'grape' pie. No, I'm not kidding...=). My parents teased me about it for a long time..=). Hope your vacation is just 'perfect'.
