the finds o' the day!!

these are the treasures I brought home today!! Went to 5/6 yard sales this morning, and this is the result...so thrilled with all of them..spent $26.00 for all of it too! .What is everyone else doing today?? How do all of you spend your Saturdays??I'm going to putter about today and possibly sweep up the patio, since the rain and winds the leaves have made a home on my patio! We just may have to order take out tonight...just want to spend time with the family, and enjoy each others' company....we shall see what the evening brings. My dream is to one day have my own shop...I have mentioned this before, but as time passes on I know that this will be a certainty in my life; But until that time comes to fruition, I will enjoy these little pretties and hold on to my dream and embrace it fully! Enjoy your weekend one and all! xoxo "Keep true to the dreams of thy youth" Friedrich von Schiller (1759-1805)

Mindy, I loved, just loved seeing the treasures you found on Saturday, I'm so glad I could enlarge the pictures and take a closer look. They look so intriguing. How excited you must have been. Love the childs chair with what I think looks like a stencil pattern on the back, or maybe its decoupage that has been varnished over, do tell please. The plate with the inscription and roses, just beautiful! The blue plates, are they English? The tea-pot looks very unusual, the old bread bin, what stories that could tell.
My Saturday... Well as you swept off the patio, John and I were sweeping snow. New tenants were moving into my son's house in the next village along the coast, so we cleared the snow off the pathways before they arrived. I lit a fire in the wood burning stove and got covered in soot, still, it made things easier for them and a nice fire is always welcome.
As you say 'putter' we say 'potter', (I like to discover our differences don't you? So I pottered about at home, did a bit of blogging whilst John was painting the sitting room. We had booked a table in a restaurant, but the days efforts had made this trapped nerve painful, and I didn't feel like going out, so we cancelled. Then an early night with a couple of pain killers. Hi Marion..thank you for the kind comments! You had asked about the childs chair...on the back of the chair it is indeed stenciled, and the blue and white teacups are from England..the little tea cup with the faded roses is from Germany. I'm sorry to hear that you were covered in soot! What a thoughtful thing for you to do for the new tenants, lighting a fire to welcome them!! I'mm sorry to hear that you dealing with pain...is this a new injury?? Hoping you get well soon dear..and have a happy Sunday! xo

Good morning, Mindy!

Thank you for sharing your wondeful "new" treasures! They are all so beautiful! My daughter and I went yard saling too, but we didn't find as many good bargains as you! I'll post them, though, on my blog.

Your finds are wonderful. I love garage sales, opp shops, and hard waste on footpaths. However, for the last six months or so I have been on a strict diet. Dare not come home with anything. Have more than I have time to manage. Baskets just seem to come to me and I love painting them up and lining them and they make wonderful gifts - but I now have more than enough. Happy hunting!

Look at all those great finds!!!
You really hit the jack pot that day. I can't wait till yard sales start here, it's still to cold. About April they will start popping up.
