A Sweet Fragrance...

I picked these roses from our yard just a few days ago. Using my grandmother's antique pitcher, I arranged them and put them up on the mantle. After the Christmas decorations have been taken down, the house seemed rather empty. These started blooming at the right time, and they longed to be picked! We have had freezing temperatures a few weeks ago...so these pretties we quite a surprise for me!

Been doing some purging and de-cluttering the past few days. I started on the desk yesterday and thankfully it is done now! The files are purged and drawers are organized. It is a great feeling to have this part done!! The closets as well as cabinets will all be gone through this winter.

We had rain last night as today..with the promise of more tomorrow. We need it so much in this area. Hubby and I went over to Sam's Club and purchased some groceries, as all the kids were to be here tonight to spend the night with us. We had chili dogs for dinner and I made some cookies as we watched Shrek 3, which our Grandson Nicholas loves! Its one of those cozy comfort of home kind of weekends...I dearly love these times!!

Tomorrow after church.. my plans are to cook up a big batch of soup and foccacia bread, light a few candles, gather up my cozy throw and curl up with a few magazines I purchased..along with my journal in case I come across something that inspires me and just enjoy the cold rainy day!

Happy Sunday to you!

Blessings...

I can't think of anything nicer to replace your Christmas decorations with than those beauties! Isn't wonderful how God creates his own "decorations" for us to enjoy? Your Sunday plans sound perfect to me, Mindy ~ wish I could join you:o) BTW, I know you've talked about baking the foccacia bread before, it's sounds so delicous ~ maybe you could share the recipe in a upcoming post?!! Hint, hint;o) Enjoy your peaceful, rainy day, my dear friend! Love, Susan P.

The roses are so pretty...I've tried growing roses and just have never had any success. I made some baked potato soup today. Soup is just a good Sunday meal in my opinion.

How nice to see and hear about your beautiful roses in January!
Even though I'm an odd sort who likes winter--It's heartwarming to know you are sharing and enjoying (and growing)such lovely flowers!
All sounds inspiring!
Have a wonderful week Mindy!
Blessings to You!

Mindy dear,
It will be MONTHS before we see a sign of roses! So, if I crave them, it must be the grocery store variety, none of which has any fragrance. That's OK tho, with Easter right around the corner (I am being VERY optimistic right now!!!) hyacinths are now coming in the markets, and I can get my "fix" of spring with one of those!!!

I love the roses, I can smell them now. It sure makes a winter day bright and cherry.

I hope you have a wonderful Sunday and be blessed. connie from Texas

Your plans for the day sound cozy indeed!
It's a treat to see such beautiful roses from the garden. We only see the more formal looking ones from the market this time of year, as it is too cold for them to grow right now.

Best wishes!

Roses that gorgeous in January! Wow...You inspire me with your de-cluttering. If only I didn't love to shop so much. Even at Good Will, its hard to not get too much of a good thing. Well, in my case anyway. I never refuse to give a good book a home...smile.
